The class is appropriate for students with little or no prior formal knowledge is optics, but requires the knowledge of entry level college physics and mathematics.

The class is appropriate for students with basic formal knowledge of optics and signal and systems mathematics. The class covers design examples in antenna controls, radar signal processing, metrology, biomedical imaging, and sensors.
This is a graduate-level class suitable for engineering and science students interesting in learning the basics of optical interference and diffraction theory with examples in Fourier optics, interferometry, polarization effects, and coherence.
